Arrange five to seven word cards so every neighboring pair forms a compound word or familiar phrase. Clear 24 authored chains across four chapters. Tap two cards to swap them, then check the links: accepted pairs show their expression and a meaning you can open. You can move any card after an incomplete check, undo swaps or ask for a clue. The game accepts complete chains made from its reviewed links, including alternative arrangements. Clear a chain to unlock the next, then replay for fewer checks or a clue-free clear. Your arrangements, cleared chains and records save in this browser when storage is available.

How to play

Tap two cards to swap / Tab and Enter / arrows

Read the cards from top to bottom. Arrange them so every neighboring pair makes a compound word or familiar phrase, such as SUN → FLOWER → POT: sunflower, flowerpot.

Tap two cards to swap them. Keyboard players can use Tab or Up and Down to focus a card, then Enter or Space to select and swap. Alt with Up or Down moves a card one place.

Press Check links to see which pairs fit. Tap an accepted expression to read its meaning. An incomplete check leaves every card movable; keep trying without a timer or attempt limit.

Undo restores the previous arrangement without lowering your check count. Clue gives a hint. Clear a chain to unlock the next, and replay cleared chains for fewer checks or a clue-free clear.

Tips

A word can connect to different neighbors. A pair that fits may still need to move so the whole chain works.

Check links reads each pair in order. SUN followed by FLOWER makes sunflower; reversing the cards changes the pair.

Clue-free clears and your lowest check counts are saved as separate records. Replay a known chain whenever you want to improve either.

What kind of word chain puzzle is Phrasebound?

Each neighboring pair forms a compound word or familiar phrase. SUN → FLOWER → POT gives sunflower and flowerpot. This is the compound-word linking style of a chain reaction word game.

Can a puzzle have more than one answer?

Yes. Phrasebound checks neighboring pairs against its reviewed set of expressions, so any complete chain using those links is accepted. Some boards have multiple arrangements. The set covers these authored puzzles; it does not contain every English expression.

Is there a timer or limit on checks?

No. You can keep rearranging and checking a chain. Correct pairs stay movable. Clue and Undo are available before completion; undoing a swap does not lower your check count.

Does Phrasebound save an unfinished chain?

Yes. Arrangements, cleared chains, check records, clue-free clears and recent undo history save in this browser when storage is available. Clearing site data removes the save. You can revisit unlocked puzzles from the puzzle menu.
