Goblin Guess

How many candies are in the jar? Look for five seconds, type your guess, then watch every candy pour out and get counted. Five new jars every day.

Goblin Guess is the fair-booth candy jar game as a daily puzzle. Each day brings five jars, the same for everyone, and you get five seconds to look at each one before a velvet cloth drops over it. Then you type your guess on a big number pad, nudge it by 1 or 10 percent if you like, and the cloth lifts: every candy pours out of the jar into a tally tray while the counter spins up to the true number. The jars grow through the day. A small jar holds 30 to 70 gumballs, a tall jar 110 to 220 jelly beans, and a mixed jar 200 to 420 candies in two layers of different sizes. Then comes a flask or an hourglass with 400 to 800, and finally a giant goblin cauldron with 1,000 to 2,400. The candy is packed in real depth, so you mostly see the front layer and have to judge how deep the jar goes. One of the last three jars each day is a marked trick jar. It might hide a rock in the middle, have a thick false bottom, or be packed loosely in its top third, and the reveal tells you which. Each jar scores up to 100 points: an exact guess scores 100, 10 percent off scores about 85, and a guess twice or half the true count scores 0. The best possible day is 500. The results card lists every jar, your guesses and points, plus one plain line about whether you tend to guess high or low. Every date since Goblin Guess #1 (October 1, 2026) stays playable in Past jars, and each date scores once. The Practice fair serves endless unscored jars to sharpen your eye. All candy is generic: no brands, wrappers or logos. On Goblin Arcade your results, streak and guessing tendencies save automatically.

How to play

Tap the number pad and OK / number keys, Backspace, Enter

Tap Play today's 5 jars. A jar of candy drops onto the counter and a lantern timer gives you five seconds to look.

When the cloth drops, type how many candies you think are inside on the number pad and tap OK. The −10%, −1, +1 and +10% keys nudge your guess. On a keyboard, type the number and press Enter.

Watch the count-out: the candy pours into the tray while the counter spins up to the true number, then your guess is stamped with how far off it was. Tap to skip the count if you're in a hurry.

Each jar scores up to 100 points and the day is out of 500. Finish all five to see your results card, then share your score from the arcade.

Tips

Count across the widest row, count up from the bottom, then think about how deep the jar is. You mostly see the front layer.

Jars marked TRICK JAR hide something that takes up space: a rock in the middle, a thick false bottom or a loose top third. Guess lower than the jar looks.

Being off by 10% still scores about 85 points, so a confident round number is fine. Being off by double scores nothing.

Read your calibration line. If it says you under-guess big jars, aim higher next time. The Practice fair is the place to try.

In the mixed jar the two layers hold different sizes: estimate each layer on its own and add them up.

How many candies are in the jar, and is the answer always the same?

Every jar is built from a fixed seed, so its true count never changes and is the same for every player and every device. The count-out at the end shows every candy, and the counter stops at the exact number.

Is Goblin Guess a daily game?

Yes. Five new jars arrive every day at midnight UTC, the same five for everyone. Each date can be scored once, and every past date since Goblin Guess #1 on October 1, 2026 stays playable in Past jars.

How is my score worked out?

Each jar scores up to 100 points. An exact guess scores 100, a guess 10 percent off scores about 85, and a guess twice or half the true count scores 0. Guessing high and guessing low by the same ratio score the same. Five jars make a total out of 500.

Can I play it on a phone?

Yes. It works in portrait and landscape, with a large in-game number pad (no phone keyboard pops up) and keys at least 40 pixels across. If you switch away while a jar is showing, it is covered until you come back, and you get only the look time you had left. Reloading never gives a fresh look: a daily jar you have already seen reopens under its cloth.

Can I practice?

Yes. The Practice fair gives you endless unscored jars of every size, including trick jars. Your guesses there also feed the line that tells you whether you tend to guess high or low.

Does it save my results?

Yes, on Goblin Arcade. Your daily results, streak and guessing tendencies save automatically. Played outside the arcade, they last until the page closes.
