Mascot Meltdown

Snap in a fuzzy mascot suit: slap guests into slapstick tumbles, send strollers on giggly joyrides, crash the parade and outrun park security.

Mascot Meltdown is a 3D theme park chaos game. You are the fuzziest mascot at Gigglemere Park, and today you have snapped. Every shift lasts three and a half minutes. Slap grown-ups and they tumble head over heels, their hats and popcorn flying, then get up and shake a fist. Tip over trash cans and souvenir carts, pop balloon bundles, steal churros for a burst of speed, belly flop into the fountain, run the Sugar Swirl carousel the wrong way, get batted around by the Comet Twirl ride and knock a parade float off its route. Chain chaos within three seconds to build a combo multiplier up to x8. Chaos raises your heat: security staff come first, then golf carts, then guards with net launchers. Stand still in a bush, a ride queue or the Mascot Lineup stage to hide and lose them, because getting caught costs your unbanked combo and three strikes sends you home early. Kids never get hit: slap near a kid and you snatch a balloon or an ice cream instead, and a bumped stroller rolls off on a giggly joyride until the parent catches it. Three missions per shift pay bonus tokens, and tokens buy seven upgrades (Slap Power, Sprint Shoes, Spin Slap, Belly Flop, Tail Whip, Banana Peels and a Confetti Cannon) and four costumes: Fuzzwick Bear, Rumpus Ringtail, Honkworth Goose and Puddlejump Frog, each with its own perk. On Goblin Arcade your progress saves automatically.

How to play

Thumb stick + buttons / WASD, J or click, Space, Q E F R

Press Clock in to start a 3½-minute shift. Move with WASD or the arrow keys and hold Shift to sprint. On a touch screen, use the thumb stick on the left and push it all the way out to sprint.

Slap with J or a click, or the SLAP button. The slap aims itself at whatever is in front of you: grown-ups tumble, trash cans and souvenir carts tip, balloon bundles pop, churro carts give up a churro and strollers roll off on a joyride. Jump with Space or JUMP.

Chain chaos within three seconds to grow your combo multiplier, up to x8. The combo banks into your score when the chain ends or after a long run at x8. Missions in the top-left corner pay bonus tokens at the end of the shift.

Chaos raises your heat. When security comes, stand still in a green ring (a bush, a ride queue or the Mascot Lineup stage) to hide until the heat drains. Getting caught loses your unbanked combo, and three strikes ends the shift early. Spend tokens in the locker room on upgrades and costumes.

Tips

Sprinting into a grown-up bowls them over, and a guest you slap into a crowd can knock down everyone in the way. Knocking down several people with one move is worth a mission later on.

Slap a parade float three times to derail the whole parade for a big bonus. Slapping a guest into the fountain dunks them for extra points.

Security guards share a radio: while one of them can see you, they all know where you are. Duck out of sight before you hide: a guard within a few steps who sees you slip into a bush keeps track of you for a moment.

Churros refill your stamina and give you a few seconds of extra speed, which is handy when a golf cart is behind you. Golf carts turn wide, so cut corners around buildings to lose them.

Each costume has a perk. The raccoon doubles points for snatches, dropped food and churros, the goose makes guests drop their food as you sprint past, and the frog jumps higher and scores double for fountain splashes.

Can I play Mascot Meltdown on my phone?

Yes. Use the thumb stick on the left to move (push it all the way out to sprint), tap SLAP and JUMP on the right, and tap the ability buttons you have unlocked. Drag on the right side of the screen to turn the camera. Portrait and landscape both work, and every button is at least 44 pixels.

Does Mascot Meltdown save my progress?

Yes, on Goblin Arcade. Your tokens, upgrades, costumes, missions, best score and settings save automatically after every shift and purchase. A shift in progress is not saved, so reloading starts it over. Played outside the arcade, progress lasts only until the page closes.

Do kids ever get hit?

No. Grown-ups get the slapstick tumbles. Slap near a kid and you snatch a balloon or an ice cream instead (the kid pouts), and anything else makes a kid hop out of the way and giggle. A bumped stroller rolls away on a gentle joyride while the baby giggles, and the parent always catches it.

How do I get away from park security?

Your heat drains once no guard has seen you for a few seconds, and much faster while you hide. Stand still in a bush, a ride queue or on the Mascot Lineup stage. Green rings mark these spots while security is after you. Banana peels and the confetti cannon can stop guards and golf carts too.

How do tokens and upgrades work?

Each shift pays 1 token per 300 points (up to 300 tokens) plus a bonus for every mission you complete. In the locker room you can upgrade Slap Power and Sprint Shoes, unlock Spin Slap, Belly Flop, Tail Whip, Banana Peels and the Confetti Cannon, and buy three more costumes.
